چکیده

Background: Indirect hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common causes hospitalization in neonatal period and its potential association with brain damage well established. This study was conducted to determine neurodevelopmental outcome children who had severe indirect received intensive phototherapy or without double volume exchange transfusion for management. Material & methods: descriptive analytical performed healthy infants history need transfusion. We invited enrolled at their 2-3 years age. Neurodevelopmental assessment by a trained nurse using Ages Stages Questionnaire. Results: The mean total serum bilirubin (TSB) studied 26.4±4.1 mg/dl period. estimated rate TSB 25-30 48.7/100,000 live born 11.4 /100,000 higher than 30 mg/dl. cause jaundice patients ABO incompatibility. At follow up examination, classic form induced encephalopathy (Kernicterus) diagnosed 3 neonates. Two them sensory neural hearing loss too. Eleven low score based on ASQ least area. less 2SD patients. Conclusion: Severe kernicterus still occurring term late pre-term infants. Early detection management may improve high risk
